Hyena Game

The hyena is far removed from its popular image of being a scavenger. In fact, the hyena hunts for the vast majority of its own food and has the intelligence of many primates. The animal which, when fully grown measures an average 4' 3" long and 3" tall at their shoulder, can be found across sub-Saharan Africa and lives in clans of up to eighty of its kind, ruled over by a female.

Many consider hyenas dog like, but in fact, they have more in common with cats though their closest living relative is the mongoose. Their powerful jaw muscles allow them to crack open animal bones devouring the marrow fat inside and they can eat thirty pounds of flesh in just ten minutes and often consume one third of their own body weight in just one meal.
